Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Sonotexta, a macOS dictation application developed by Stan ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using Sonotexta, you agree to these Terms.

1. License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Sonotexta on macOS devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

2. License Keys

Pro licenses are delivered as unique license keys issued through Lemon Squeezy. You are responsible for keeping your license key secure. Sharing, reselling, or distributing license keys is prohibited. We reserve the right to deactivate keys that violate these Terms.

3. Purchases & Refunds

All purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Payment processing, tax collection, and invoicing are handled by Lemon Squeezy under their terms of service.

A 7-day free trial of Pro features is available for new users. We encourage you to evaluate Sonotexta during the trial period before purchasing. Refund requests may be submitted to Lemon Squeezy within 14 days of purchase if Sonotexta does not function as described.

4. API Keys & Third-Party Services

Sonotexta uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model for cloud features. You are responsible for:

6. Intellectual Property

Sonotexta and all associated intellectual property are owned by us. This license does not grant you any ownership rights. Third-party components (Sparkle, WhisperKit, FluidAudio) are used under their respective open-source licenses.

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how Sonotexta handles data. In summary: we collect no personal data, audio is never stored, and API keys remain in your macOS Keychain.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Sonotexta is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Sonotexta will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, language, accent, and the selected speech engine. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any transcription or translation output.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of Sonotexta. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for Sonotexta Pro.

Sonotexta includes automatic update functionality via Sparkle. Updates may include bug fixes, new features, or changes to existing functionality. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of any modified Terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate your license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of Sonotexta and delete all copies. Sections 6, 8, 9, and this section survive termination.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Switzerland.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Sonotexta after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
